Last week was an exhilarating journey through the world of wine and storytelling through photography. After wrapping up a photo shoot for a Chardonnay campaign (you can check it out here), I turned my focus to crafting an entirely different narrative for a Sauvignon Blanc wine campaign.
With Sauvignon Blanc’s vibrant personality in mind, we needed a fresh concept and a new muse to represent its distinctive character.
The Concept
The story behind this shoot was as elegant and transformative as the wine itself. The idea was to portray a girl who enjoys sipping Sauvignon Blanc, gradually becoming one with the wine, embodying its aromatic palette and unique essence.
This fusion of model and wine was meant to capture the beauty of the drink through the beauty of the woman interpreting it. Sauvignon Blanc’s youthful, bright, and crisp qualities inspired us to find a model who could visually and emotionally represent these traits.
Casting the perfect muse
To reflect Sauvignon Blanc’s characteristics, we selected a model with light blond hair, a young and slim frame, a juvenile yet sophisticated look, and long, thin legs. Her appearance exuded the vibrancy and elegance that this wine represents. This contrast with the Chardonnay shoot the day before, which featured a completely different aesthetic, underscored the individuality of each wine.
Bringing the Vision to Life
We used natural light to highlight the model’s features and the delicate tones of the wine. The soft lighting mirrored the freshness of Sauvignon Blanc, creating an authentic and organic feel that resonated with the wine’s unpretentious charm.
I shot the campaign with my Sony A7III, alternating between 35mm and 85mm prime lenses. The 35mm lens was perfect for wide-angle shots that showcased the model and the scenography, while the 85mm lens allowed me to capture intimate close-ups of her expressions and details. Minimal editing was done to preserve the natural beauty of the composition, letting the raw elegance of the story shine through.
The Result
This shoot was not just about creating an image, it was about crafting an experience, a feeling, a connection between the viewer and the wine. The photos reflect the Sauvignon Blanc’s youthful and spirited personality while drawing the viewer into its story.
Every wine has a tale to tell, and through this campaign, I aimed to tell Sauvignon Blanc’s story with authenticity and grace. I hope you’ll feel its vibrant energy in every shot.
